Introduction

VERY IMPORTANT NOTICE

THE RESIDENTS FOR THE PROTECTION OF RAINSBROOK VALLEY

ARE HOLDING A PROTEST MARCH TO SAVE THE RAINSBROOK VALLEY FROM THE CREMATORIUM ON SUNDAY 26TH FEBRUARY,  WE WILL MEET AT 10.15  BY THE PUBLIC CONVENIENCES ON THE RECREATIONAL FIELD.

IF YOU HAVE CONCERNS ABOUT THE CREMATORIUM BEING SITED ON THE RAINSBROOK VALLEY, SO CLOSE TO A RESIDENTIAL AREA, WITH TWO OVER SUBSCRIBED SCHOOLS IN VERY CLOSE PROXIMITY, AS WELL AS THE POLLUTION FROM THE EXRA TRAFFIC THAT WILL BE GENERATED, PLEASE COME ALONG TO SUPPORT US, ASK  YOUR FAMILIES,  FRIENDS WITH CHILDREN AND DOG WALKERS FOR THIS ALL IMPORTANT PROTEST (BANNERS OPTIONAL).

WE REALLY NEED EVERYONE’S SUPPORT FOR THIS EVENT TO MAKE AN IMPACT ON OUR COUNCIL TO RETHINK THEIR PLANNING APPLICATION.

Click here for the key issues relating to the application and details of who to write to when raising objections.

Please also sign our petition that urges Rugby Borough Council to resist development in the Rainsbrook Valley and requests that this area of open countryside, is designated as a site of nature conservation and environmental stewardship.

Welcome to the ‘Residents for the Protection of Rainsbrook Valley’ (RPRV) website. RPRV has been set up by local residents who aim to protect this beautiful valley now and in the future. We feel greatly concerned that this area of outstanding natural beauty with spectacular views could be lost to development, with the most immediate challenge being the proposed crematorium and a cemetery off Ashlawn Road, behind St Andrews Rugby Club.

If this planning application is approved, Rugby Borough Council will be breaching its own Core Strategy by developing in open countryside, thereby, giving by default, the green light to other potential developers to ignore the councils approved policies. This would inevitably open the floodgates to unsustainable development in the open countryside.

We do not object to the principle of a Crematorium being built to serve the people of Rugby and surrounding districts, but based on the above we believe that Rainsbrook Valley is not the right location and other more sustainable local sites should be considered.
